Expectant Mothers Forced to be Drugged

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada is trying to push through the Expectant Mothers Act under the name Coburn Omnibus Bill.Yes Harry Reid is some old guy that thinks he knows what is best for pregnant women. Or is it his wallet he is thinking of?
This would require pregnant women to be screened for depression and then prescribed drugs.

I have written before about this and given links to post that show antidepressants are very dangerous for an unborn baby and the mother. Mothers Act Experiments on UnBorn Babies
We all know that these drugs are not recommended for children.
We know that any medication taken by the mother is passed on to the unborn child or through breast milk.
We know that antidepressants have been proven to cause suicidal thoughts….
And this is the same antidepressant medicine that the government wants to push on you, your child, and your grandchild.

The Big Pharma has already found ways to convince millions of people that they need medication to feel better. They have weaseled their way into our public schools and are having parents forced into medicating children. Now, they must want more money without the care of who gets hurt. The drugging of children should be illegal but, somehow these government officials (like Harry Reid) have decided it's ok, as long as they are making money!

I am sure the Big Pharma companies would love all of these kids to be raised as drug addicts in hopes of forming life long customers.

This has to stop! Stop filling the pockets of Government, Pharmaceutical companies, and Unscrupulous Doctors.

I will give you the link to the Natural News site because Mike Adams is much more educated on the effects of drugging our mothers. Stop The Mother Act Save Expectant Mothers from Mandatory Drugging with Antidepressants

Take a few minutes to read Mikes article, visit the links, and pass it along to others.

Thanks,
Sheryl Loch

SunFlower Seeds and Vitamin E

Sunflower Seeds

WholeFood Farmacy

According to research completed in March 2001 by Dr. K. Phillips of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, the sunflower kernel is rich in a number of nutrients that have been shown to protect against cardiovascular and other diseases and to act as antioxidants and anti-carcinogens. When considered in aggregate, this amazing kernel packs a powerful nutritional punch.

Sunflower kernels contain high levels of vitamin E, betaine, phenolic acids, and choline. In addition, the kernel is a good source of arginine and lignans. Each of these compounds, while perhaps unfamiliar to the layperson, has been studied by the scientific community and shown to offer a variety of health benefits.

* Vitamin E (Tocopherols): May protect against cardiovascular disease.
* Betaine : May protect against cardiovascular disease.
* Phenolic acids (chlorogenic acid): Antioxidant and anti-carcinogen.
* Choline : Plays a role in memory and cognitive function.
* Arginine : Potential heart benefits.
* Lignans : May protect against heart disease and some cancers; lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides

You can enjoy the taste and health benefits of sunflower seeds in many of your favorite Wholefood Farmacy foods such as Phi Plus, Coco Cherry Phi, Cranberry Phi, Cornaborealis, Corn of Plenty, and ClariPhi.

The Amazing Cranberry

Imagine a little red berry that fights cancer, age-related diseases like loss of memory, heart disease, ulcers, and even cavities. Sound to good to be true? Allow us to introduce our friend, the Cranberry!

In 1996 laboratory studies conducted by University of Illinois scientists and published in Planta Medica demonstrated the potential anti-cancer properties of cranberries. More recently researchers at the University of Western Ontario demonstrated, in animal models, that human breast cancer cells showed significantly lower incidence of tumor development when the experimental group's diet was supplemented with cranberries.

USDA scientists at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University have been finding promising results associated with diets high in antioxidants and other phytonutrients. Preliminary studies suggest that diets containing fruits and vegetables with high ORAC values may provide protection against chronic age-related afflictions like loss of coordination and loss of memory. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity which is a measure of the antioxidant activity for a particular food. Cranberries score very high on the ORAC scale at 1750 ORAC units per 3.5 oz. serving.

A study published in the Journal of the American Dental Association reported that a unique cranberry juice component, a high-molecular-weight nondialysable material (NDM), has the ability to reverse and inhibit the coaggregation of certain oral bacteria responsible for dental plaque and periodontal disease in vitro. Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition reported on a preliminary clinical trial using a mouthwash containing cranberry NDM. Saliva samples of the experimental group showed a two order of magnitude reduction in Streptococcus Mutans compared with the placebo group. This is exciting news because a large percentage of cavities can be attributed to Streptococcus Mutans.

Flavonoids have been shown to function as potent antioxidants both in vitro and in vivo and may reduce the risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries). Cranberries contain significant amounts of flavonoids and polyphenolic compounds that have been demonstrated to inhibit LDL (bad cholesterol) oxidation. Ongoing research continues to suggest that cranberries may offer a natural defense against atherosclerosis.

Peptic ulcers are increasingly being attributed to infection by Helicobacter pylori bacteria, as pposed to stress and/or stomach acidity. A high-molecular-weight nondialysable constituent of cranberry juice has been shown to inhibit the adhesion of H. pylori to human gastric mucus in vitro. These preliminary results suggest that cranberry may be beneficial in the prevention of peptic ulcers through the inhibition of H. pylori adhesion to gastric mucus and stomach tissue.

You can find cranberries in Wholefood Farmacy foods such as, Organic Cranberry Phi, Organic Phi Plus, Cranberry Crunch, Fruitalicious, and Fruitalicious Plus – enjoy!

Children, Young Adults & Diabetes

Another new study shows that obesity is taking a serious toll on children and young adults leaving them to face a lifetime of diabetes and related health challenges. The study’s lead researcher was Dr. Joyce Lee, M.D., MPH, a pediatric endocrinologist and member of the Child Health Evaluation and Research (CHEAR) Unit in the University Of Michigan Division Of General Pediatrics. The research was published in the journal, Diabetes Care, December 2007, Vol. 30, No. 12.

The study found significant increases in hospitalizations among children and young adults age 29 or younger due to diabetes. The number of children and young adults with diabetes who were hospitalized increased 38% between 1993 and 2004. During that period, hospital charges for diabetes care provided to children and young adults more than doubled, from $1.05 billion in 1993 to $2.42 billion in 2004.

“The number of young adults hospitalized with diabetes in the U.S. has increased significantly over the past decade, along with the rate of childhood obesity,” says Dr. Lee. “Today’s young adults experienced childhood and adolescence in the leading edge of the childhood obesity epidemic in the 1970s and 1980s. Our findings suggest that we may now just be beginning to see the first manifestation of a related ‘diabetes epidemic’ among these young adults.”

In short, children who learn an unhealthy lifestyle and become overweight while young, continue that unhealthy lifestyle into adulthood. Before they are 30 years old they become obese and stricken with Type 2 Diabetes. The countless hours of TV and computer game time have crowded physical activities out of the picture. The junk food, fast food, chips, candy, trans fats, milk shakes, energy drinks and sodas might put a smile on their face for now – but what about tomorrow? As parents, we really need to take this seriously and start making some changes.

When your children are 30 years old, slim, healthy and leading a happy, vibrant lifestyle they will thank you for guiding them in the right direction when they were young. The research is crystal clear – children who learn healthy lifestyle and eating habits while young carry those good habits into their teen and young adult years. As they become parents, they pass these healthy habits on to their children creating a life of health and happiness for future generations in your family line.

Wholefood Farmacy foods offer parents everywhere a convenient way to teach their children healthy eating habits at a young age. Having healthy snacks on hand at all times is the first step to weaning them off junk food and allowing them to learn how delicious and satisfying healthy whole foods can be. Leading by example is the key to success.
