Wow, I just found a cool tool. Not only is it cool but, it is free!
Google Trends is a free comparison tool. You can type in a key word or topic & it will show you 2 graphs. The top graph is the Search Volume. The second graph is the News Reference Volume. It will also show you Regions, Cities, & Languages for the search phrase.
I happened upon this site by accident. That is no big surprise as that is how I find lots of things. I try doing to many things at one time & bam – something great happens!
Anyway, after I played with this for a bit I discovered that if you follow the graph through the 4 years you can see that certain words, news, or searches follow a trend depending on the time of year.
Example – I typed in Online Business; it drops every year near the end of December.
The word DIET peaks at New Years – most likely because of New Years resolutions.
You can compare trends for up to 5 words (terms) per search trend. If you want to see what the trend is for an EXACT Phrase you will need to put it in Quotation marks. That can make a world of difference in your results. So if you are targeting an exact phrase you need to be sure to use the quotation marks.
I think this could be a big help deciding what word, words, or phrases you may want to use in articles, post, web site….
I have only been playing with the site today so, I hope I can get a better idea of it’s greatest benefit! Or the best way to use the results.
OK, go give it a try & let’s see if we can figure it out together. I am always open to ideas & your knowledge of how things work. Leave me a comment & let me know!!
Just for fun HERE is the search for Ron Paul, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama. You can see how the News can affect the Search results well, except Ron Paul never got news coverage but, still got searched.
Have a great day,
