Link Title Mod is on the Forum

The Internet Marketers Guild News - June 9,2008

Hello Everyone,
I have some great news. You know it must be great because, I never send out a mass mail.

What’s so special that I am writing?
The New SEO Link Title Mod!!
Yes, I know – just what you have been waiting for!

Ok, what is it?
This new mod will take the old nasty, long, coded perma links & make them short. Not only short but, they will contain your thread title keywords.

I know, now you are getting a real thrill! Sit down, take a deep breath and get ready to optimize!

How will this benefit you?
When you title your thread it will be much easier for the search engines to read and categorize it. (We have Google, Alexa, MSN, Yahoo, and other bots on the board several times a day).
So, this can help your post rank better. All you need to do is take a few things into consideration when you post a title.

1. You want keywords in your Thread Title. Do NOT over do it or the search engines will think it is jumbled keywords & label it as spam!

2. It does not like punctuation. Exclamation points, apostrophes, ‘AND” signs (&), parentheses…. These will be turned into code. You do not want that!

3. The Bots do not like code but, they LOVE text! They want to read real words that associate the Title and the Post. If all you do is post the name of a business over and over the bot will be board and leave. The more words that make sense the better. (I have no clue how the bots can read if it makes ‘story’ sense when most High School grads can’t).

4. Keyword suggestion – list your keyword or key phrase no more that 3 times per 100 real words.

I have placed a similar mod on my blog & saw the difference in post ranking instantly!
Now my perma links are shorter, cleaner, and search engine friendly!

Example of an old link from the forum –

http://www.theinternetmarketersguild.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=
246&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Yes it is a total mess. From my understanding – the bot would have gotten to the ? and stopped. It would not have gone on to follow. There are none of your keywords in the link.

The same link with the new mod -
http://www.theinternetmarketersguild.com/asd-rally-in-las-vegas%C7%83
-take-action%C7%83%C7%83-t246.html

Here is a little lesson as to what to watch for – the above link has Exclamation Points that is what all the %C7%83 is.

Here is the best possible way to get your link – I have taken out the ! ‘s.

-t246.html#p611

That has taken out unwanted code and it has all the keywords right in the perma link.

If you see that your threads perma link is not what you want you can Edit your post and change your thread title until you get it right.

If I would have thought ahead I would have picked a more exciting link to use as an example but, I was napping as Brad loaded pages of code to put the mod in. Therefore you got stuck with what I had as an old link.

I will also post this letter in the Lounge – if you have any questions, comments, or more tips on making your post more SE friendly, you can share them there.

I would like to give a special THANK YOU to Brad, Sam, Bj, and Aaron for working so hard at getting the board set up and the new things added.
Sam has made the mod for the payments and the chat box. He has also helped get the skins to work with the new additions.
Bj and Aaron (of Low Cost Web Space) are our host providers and anytime we have a problem as to how to get something added and need CPanel help, they are on skype helping us.
As for Brad, well he puts up with me. When we need something changed or fixed on the board he finds a way to get it done.

I will see you soon,
Sheryl Loch
