Search Engines and Websites

If we had a dollar for every website, ebook, and report that has been created about search engines, we would all be millionaires!

The almost funny thing about it is, you don't really need to read a book on search engines to get into the search engines. You don't need to study a thousands of pages to figure out how to get good placements in the search engines.

Search engine placement is for the most part common sense. Believe it or not, out of the millions of internet users, way less than 20% have their own website. That percentage includes ALL websites online. If you were to break it down to just business and marketing websites, that percentage would be way under 5%.

Think about it! LESS than 5% of internet users have their own business or marketing website!!! Think about that a little more and you'll realize that the less than %5 of which many have more than one business and/or marketing website. For a more accurate reality, one could say it's closer to 3% of the internet population.

The first big secret to search engines,
have your own website. Having an affiliate website is one thing but having your own website is another thing altogether. If you do not have your own website, you are losing out! By having your own website, you have a personal web presence, and are in total control of your website. You can place whatever you want on your website.

There will be people that tell you,
you don't need your own website. If you want to make long term income online and if you want to make sales and achieve sign ups, you do certainly need your own website. No matter what you do, no matter how many sales you make, no matter how many people you can sign up to your offer, if you don't have your own website, you are losing potential sales and sign ups.

To stay a step above the turnkey sitesyone else has, and gain an edge over everyone else you need your own website. Your index or home page is very important, you need to spend some time on keywords, meta tags and content. For multi-page sites make sure that you link your pages to your index page.

Search engines like Google may rule but they are not the only search engine online.
Google, does not look at meta tags so much as they use to. However, many search engines rely on meta tags alone. As I understand it right now Google primarily on the keywords in the content on your website pages. Other search engines may rely primarily on keywords that are in your meta tag and keyword list. Normally these are found in the Head on your index page.

You always need to use keywords that are relevant to the content on your site. If you have a website about dogs, you'll want meta tags with keywords that match keywords on your index page about dogs. Let's say you are selling Doggie Dog Food. In your meta tag keywords you will place 'doggie dog food'...on your index page you will place a link to 'doggie dog food'...on your index page you will state the words 'doggie dog food' several times along with other relevant words such as “dog health, dog treats, dog toys, dog.

Longevity is also a key.
The longer your website is online, more websites will link to yours. And linking to your website helps move your website higher in the search engines. Needless to say, more and more people will locate your website easier as time moves forward. You'll make more and more contacts with people. More and more people will visit your website. Clicks on your site shows that your site is important. We use traffic exchanges for a new site to get that extra boost from multiple clicks.

You don't need to know everything in all the ebooks and websites out there telling you how to get secrets of the search engines. It's actually mostly common sense. And using some simple tools, here is a great resource for SEO tools to optimize your site. Free Search Engine Optimization Software, http://tools.seobook.com
