Nice you have you stop in.

Sad to say but, some of the people that just copy and paste articles are now understanding how important it is to have backlinks and comments to get better rank. This is why they have started sending unsolicited skype messages, tweets, or posting in blog forums asking (begging) people to comment, link to, rate...their post. Many of them are forming little groups of people that all bookmark each others post even if they are junk.

When I have someone leave a comment on my blog telling me how terrible I am that I stole an article and did not give credit to the author. I was even worse scum because I put my name on it.... I found the blog that I supposedly stole it from. Heck, this person had my article word for word including my screen shot pictures. Thankfully the person that had taken it promptly removed it from their blog after a slight threat.

It just seems that I am seeing more and more people thinking it is acceptable to spread links and take credit for articles they do not even have permission to post.

I think this topic will become a bigger problem in the very near future.

This is just something that has been on my mind so, I figured I would bring it up with others and see what they thought.

Call me a naive, but I haven't seen any blogger who just copies and paste a blog post. The people that do that are doing that just to update their blog and they normally have zero comments on the blog.

Hi JD,
The people that try to benefit from your hard work are thieves. They are no better than the person that would come to your house and take an item out of your yard. They see something sitting there that they could use so, they take it with little thought of the work you had to do to get it for yourself.

It can be kinda fun when you find someone that just uses reprint articles without any knowledge of the subject. I like to ask those people questions. They either never answer or they just quote part of the article. If they are in a live meeting then they just stumble and stammer around. I smile and think - BUSTED!! LOL!

I will let you get by with the copy and paste quote - this time. ;)

Thanks for stopping in - I haven't see you in along time. But, now I know where your at and what you are doing, I'll be stopping over at your site to check on you again.

Ahhh Dennis, don't be a monkey butt! ;)

Yeah, I just don't see you doing the copy and paste thing. Just does not suit you. Not only that but, you just posted how to take care of that problem. Be ready to be beat down by the rest of us. ;)

The Bandwidth thing - now that is another 'get me on a rant' topic. That is why I have a hard time putting pictures on here. People can't just steal the pics they have to try and pull your whole site down with them.

I am so glad that you have joined me on the Monkey theme. I found monkey to be much nicer than what I really wanted to call those people.

I agree with what you are saying here.

I work hard to identify topics I want to write about and spend hours every day reading and learning so I'll have something worthwhile to pass along to the people who are kind enough to visit my sites.

There are so many people who are willing to take the faster route and copy and paste articles about things they know little or nothing about. I don't know how anyone could be proud of doing this.

I don't have any bad feelings about such people or their sites, but I sure wouldn't bookmark or promote them.

On the other end of the scale are the lowlifes who steal our hard work and try to benefit from it. I have no respect for thieves.

I like your analogy of a monkey building a site. I grinned when i first saw it and had to come and read the article.

I fully agree with your comment and how you said it: "Write something of your own, put in more time to write it than it takes me to read it and bookmark it!"

(And, yes, I did copy and paste that small part.)

Would you make a super site - I need one. You do all the work and I will just 'barrow' it. Your cool with that - right?

I do not get the Google Alerts as much. I just get so many on Skype or social sites that send a note saying "Hey go bookmark (rank up, vote for) my new post, thanks". Yes, that is the only time I hear from the lazy bastards is when they want me to do for them. Then if I do go and look I find a post that I know they did not write. ARGH!

I do have Company News Letters that I post sometimes in my sections for that business, That is what they are for. The company sends them out telling you that you are to insert your link and then can post them. On those I tell readers it is a news letter I received. Otherwise they may expect me to write like that all the time.

I have never had trackbacks turned on here. I had read that they attract some junk sites so, I just took the chance that I could blog without them. Again a few weeks ago I did a bit of reading to see how others dealt with them but, still not sure if trackbacks are a benefit that is worth the trouble.

Ok, I am practicing writing only short comments.

I am thrilled to have you come by my little blog!

I have done the 'Brain Squeeze' many times. Heck, somedays everything seems to hurt my brain. ;)

When I wrote this I did try to look up a few resources to help people understand how plagiarism can be detrimental not only the person they stole it from but also themselves. Needless to say, I was not in the right mindset and decided to wait. The next day I decided to go visit a few blogs first and Wallla - there was my perfect resource - your article at Yans'.

Maybe the fact that so many people talk about article submission site where you can go and pick up free articles is misleading people to think they can take any article. The part of leaving off any recognition to the original author - that is bull! No excuse!

People most likely figure that the author will never find the work they stole but, I know many people that check for duplicates of their content on a regular basis.

As for the bloggers, many of them are told to post everyday. Well, I know that I can not do that. I just can not think of and write each day. Therefore, I have days with no new post. Some of the 'experts' that push posting everyday should also put in as much effort to tell their followers about the wrongs of plagiarism.

I am glad that you brought this subject up in a post. More people do need to be aware of this issue.
