Answers to Extreme Ezines How Do You Promote

This morning I saw a tweet from Brian (@ExtremeEzine), He had a new post on his blog and I just had to go look.

Not to self – Never go to Brian’s blog before coffee. I knew I would want to comment.

Ok back to business.

Brian had a list of 10 questions asking ‘How do you promote a new blog post once you have it written and published’.
You can see all the questions and the answers of others at What Blog Promotion Steps Do You Take

I decided that since it was a great opportunity to share not only Brian’s blog but, to also get you thinking, I would post my answers here also.

Question # 1 - What steps do you take after posting to your blog?
I immediately write a mini description about the post. I do this in BBCode and HTML including a perma link to the new post. This description will give the reader an idea if the new post is of interest to them. Because I write the mini post (review) myself I can use the anchor text that I feel is best for the link.

Once I have those written I hit the Internet Marketers Guild Blog Co-Op and place it in the correct category.

I have a couple of big WAHM forums where I also place the mini post in an ongoing thread.

Question # 3 - Do you submit it to social networking sites?
There are a couple of social networking sites where I place the mini post in my blog section. I never see hits from these but, I have hope. Most blogs in these sites are all ads and no one reads them. Therefore I only post to a few sites.

Question # 4- Do you hit the bookmarking sites?
I have now been bookmarking to about 20 sites. I am using a new bookmarking tool so, I will not explain all of the details here and now. Trust me when I say it is super cool, easy, fast, and has natural timing!

Question # 5 - Do you start commenting on other blogs? What are you looking for when choosing which blogs? Friends, CommentLuv, Sez-Who, Top Commentators widget, Do-Follow, Page Rank?
I do comment on blogs no matter if I have a new post or not. My criterion for commenting on a blog is – I must have something to say about the post I’m visiting.

Here are a couple of things that I also do -
I do Tweet it when I think about it. I also try to time this when the most active followers are on.

Because of how I have hooked sites with RSS Feeds, I know that the new post is already on all of them.

I would have went into great detail about each of these but, that would have been a REALLY looooong post. ;)

So jump on over and check out Extreme Ezine –I bet you have a few great ideas to share.

Hi Brian,
I thought you could always use another link! LOL!

I may try answering some comments as post on here & then referring to the original article.

Just a thought, I been having but, not sure how it will go yet.

Glad you stopped by & hope you get a new reader or two. I always like your stuff and so should everyone else. ;)

It's ok with me :) BTW, I noticed that some of your tweets say from TweetDeck so I just installed it on my laptop. I'm looking it over now.

If you have any questions about TweetDeck just yell.
I think you will LOVE the grouping feature!
You can also checkout TweetDeck for Twitter
The post is a little old and I have not updated it yet - Bad Sheryl!
It will still give you the basics.
