Are You Deep Linking to Improve Your SERP Results

I have spent who knows how long talking about backlinking. I think linking is the sexiest part of building up rank on your site. In fact I dream about Dan Theis and I’m not ashamed of it!

Today I got a Tweet from my 30DC teammate Steve, the link lead to an article from WebPro News. In this article they are talking about Deep Linking and how important it is to your SERP’s.

This is one of the BIG reasons why I have the Blog Co-Op set up in categories and have you submit mini post with a perma (deep) link. You should be building links not only to your home page but also the important pages on your site. In the case of a blog – almost every page is important!

By submitting articles to bookmarking sites you are also building PAGE BACK LINKS! Yes, not just links to your home page.

I started building my bookmark profiles using articles I find in the Co-Op because it is super easy for me to find post about certain topics. You know it is bad to only submit your own sites!

If you think about it even places like FriendFeed will give you slight help with deep linking. I say slight because it only picks up the title of each post.

Go on over and take a look at what WebPro News has to say about The Importance of Deep Linking in Your Search Engine Marketing. All the Search Engines are looking for them!

Stop back in and tell me what you think!
I have a few other ways that I build deep links but, I wanna know,
How are YOU building YOUR deep links?

Thanks,
Sheryl Loch

I also use social bookmarking and blog commenting to deep link to my pages to ensure they are crawled and indexed by the SEs. Submitting to do-follow bookmarking sites (Reddit, Furl) also gives a PR favor to my deep pages.

That is a really good article Sheryl. It summarizes the whys and hows of link building in a very concise way. I have recently begun to use Dapper to create URLs for each of my blog posts for submission to the feed aggregators.

I just love the puzzle aspect of building up links.

Okay how do you know all of these things? I should really learn more about this stuff.

My dear Sheryl, you crafty woman you. I found this post because you 'deep linked it' from a comment you left on my blog. I can see the advantage of this and I use it on occasion, when I remember to in my posts. I have never used it when responding in a comment, usually because commentluv takes care of it form me. I must remember to use it on those blogs that do not support commentluv. Damn, isn't it just like a woman to be sneaky ;)

Hello @Richael,
The bookmarking that I have started is already getting me hits. I am bookmarking others articles when I come acrossed a great one. I noticed that I am now seeing more of my articles bookmarked by others. The bookmarking is not only building links but, the other members of the sites seem to be doing searches (within the bookmarking site) and clicking on the articles.
Blog commenting I do as much as possible if I have something to add.

@CoronadoCookie,
After reading your comment I am looking into Dapper. I had not even heard of it before. I just have to figure out the best way to use it.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

@Stesha,
Thanks for stopping in.
I follow a lot of great bloggers and read as much as possible. I will say that trial and error has come into play alot. Somedays, I have more error than anything. Once I get the kinks worked out then I try to share it.
Ps. Still looking for cupid. LOL!

@Sire,
Hey, lets say that I am smart not sneaky. It just sounds soooo much better. LOL!
Yes, when I post at a blog that uses Comment Love then it will give you the Perma link to your last post. Since I have different blogs here, I try to pick the one best suited for the topic. I also use mini post on boards and other networking sites so, I have control over the Anchor text and the surrounding text for the link.
I am always glad when you stop in. You can follow my links anytime. ;)

When you mention submitting articles to bookmarking sites, which ones were you on about, general or any in specific?
