Get More Backlinks Indexed Faster

I know many people have worked their butts off building backlinks that never get indexed. Sometimes it may take 6 month’s (if ever) for your backlinks to be indexed.
I am impatient and I want all the backlinks I build found.

Ping Backlinks
Get Your Links Indexed

A while back I wrote a blog post asking people How Do You Get Your Backlinks Indexed. I really did not get the answer I was looking for but, that is OK, I just waited for the results of my own testing. I was hoping someone would confirm my ideas on Pinging.

I have been Pinging backlinks for a while now but, could not guarantee that it was really adding up all my new backlinks. Our sites already had so many backlinks that I just wasn’t sure enough to tell you all about it.

Well we took a brand new site with ZERO backlinks & started to ‘test’.

Every place we left a link we pinged.
The result – more backlinks indexed and listed faster than ever before!

So here is what I have been doing.
If I post a comment on a blog, I take the link to that comment (or article) and Ping that permalink.

If I post on a forum and leave a link, I take that forum post permalink and Ping it!

These are the 2 easy ones. Of course if any of these links are DoFollow do NOT forget to ping them!!

Blog comments that are DoFollow & have Comment Luv are also a must ping!

If you have written a mini post in a forum (Like Our Blog Co-Op) where you have the perma link, perfect anchor text, your link in the conversation of the post, & DoFollow – Ping that baby!!
(I also ping NoFollow links)

I also have bookmarking sites that I ping after I have added new bookmarks. This step depends on the script the bookmark site uses. Some bookmark sites have changed and now your personal page is in script and then there is no use wasting your time pinging.

For those of you that are about to freak out saying that pinging will cause the site problems – calm down.

Most sites are set to ping every time there is a new post added. They are not normally set to ping a comment.

You are not going to be pinging the same site a million times in a row. Ping other sites only when you have left a link.

You do not really have to ping when you leave a comment here on my blog or make a post at The Internet Marketers Guild as I have our sites set to lessen the need to ping them yourself.

You can find the way that works best for you to get your comments pinged. You can either ping each site as you go by just having a ping tab open and ping as you make links, or you may want to just use a document to copy and paste all the perma links from post to take over and ping at the end of your link building.

For pinging I use Pingler because it pings 91 services. You can also take the services listed to your blog and have it automatically ping all of them when you make a new post. There again, most blogs do not send pings for comments so you will still need to ping for your baclinks in comments.

Many of you may already be familiar with Ping o Matic if you are more comfortable using this service then that is fine.

Ok, I could go into more detail about getting comments indexed faster but, that will be another post.

If you have questions please ask.

Sheryl,

An excellent article. Thanks for the information. It's something I have only just started doing with my own new website. I read my first article on it yesterday which suggested the same thing.

Just wanted to say thanks - this looks like advice I can implement immediately, I have thousands of forum posts, some of which are actually good and might deserve a ping.

I had never considered pinging comments. This really makes sense. Especially since you have already done the research.
Pinging should also help the blog post you are commenting on.
Thanks for posting this!

@Rebecca,
Thank you for coming by.
I was at a conference and one of the speakers also suggested this.

@ashok,
Thanks for stopping in!
I am a fan of forums. When you find forums that are not filled with 'junk', they can really help your business.
I do not ping every forum post but, if they are what I feel are really good, then I get them over to Pingler.

@Keith,
Glad you popped in.
I think that pingging comments and forum post is not real common but, it could be that so many blogs ping articles when they are posted and people may have thought comment post were also pingged when added.

We work hard for our backlinks and they should get found. ;)

Now that's useful tip right there. I never thought of pinging my comments and forum post. Thanks for this advice, I might get additional traffic out of it.

I've been working on backlinks for my AdSense niche sites and I just started pinging the pages where my back links are. Hopefully this will speed up the indexing of my own sites. Nice job Sheryl, good stuff.

So, you manually ping (using Pingler or another service) the permalink from forums and blogs where you are leaving backlinks? This seems to be a lot of work to get the backlinks indexed quicker, I comment on many blogs and forums throughout my work week (and weekends!)

Another question would be: What direct affect for your SEO does this have? Does it help get better SERP rankings?

Thanks Sheryl for the clear explanation of pinging. I also appreciate that you actually tested this out with a new site and were able to actually get quantitative results. Looks like I need to start keeping a log of my comments.

Hi, great post. A couple of comments. I have been purchasing Angela's back link package and now "ping" my profile link after setting it up and it seems to be working much better than before. If I am going to go through the effort of setting up the link I want to make sure I get credit for it.

thanks again for the post

Gosh Daily News...you can take my sites off of your list to ping since you left the same freakin comment on several sites we manage.

You get credit for spamming! Yeah!!!

Sure Angela is proud to have you spam with her name, just like a gazillion other people that have her "list".
