Page Backlinking on Blog Comments

Short and sweet blog business tip of the day!

Here I will show you that posting comments on blogs can build Your Page Backlinks which are very important. It will take a few extra minutes to find an article from your blog that matches the one you are about to post at but, very well worth the time!

You have found a blog article that you would like to post a comment on so, now what?

I will say this for anyone that is trying to take a short cut – READ THE ARTICLE! You also need to read through the other posted comments. If you skim through and post your opinion you may look like an ass when others realize that you are not on topic!

Write out your comment on a document that has a spell check! You can use WORD if you have it but, Word will carry allot of extra code when you copy it out to place in the comment section. To get rid of the extra code baggage is simple, copy it from your word document & paste it into NotePad. This will strip out any extra and unneeded code. Now just let it set there for a minute before you start slinging post.

You now need to look at the post in your own blog.
Do you have a post that is very similar or directly connects to the article you are commenting on?
Once you have found a post on your own blog that relates, you need to get the Permalink to that post. This will be the link you leave with your comment. This is how you are going to build Page Backlinks!

Why are you leaving a link to a certain post you wrote and not your home page?

Because you want inbound links to every page of your blog not just your home page. The search engines consider every post in your blog as a separate page; you want them to look at each page not just the same ol homepage every time. Page backlinks are counted separately from Domain backlinks when a search engine gives relevance to your site! You need to build both!

Ok, now you are almost ready to post your comment! Go ahead and open up the blog where you are going to leave your valuable comment!

There is a box to insert your Name.
Some blogs will only allow you to leave your actual name or the owner will delete your comment. Some allow you to leave keywords or your blogs title. This is totally up to the blog owner as to what they accept. It is best if you can leave keywords relevant to your blog but, if they do not allow that then you may be considered a spammer and your comment deleted that does you no good to even post. I suggest you follow the norm of other commenter’s, especially if you are a 1st time poster to that blog.

Now you are ready to post.
**Fill out the name section,

**Place your actual email in the box, (I have never been spammed by a leaving my email on a blog comment)

**Place the Permalink, from the relevant post of your blog, in the URL box,

**Copy your comment from the WordPad document,
Double check it for spelling and make sure it states your thoughts.

**If they offer to notify you of Follow Up Comments, I check the box in case the conversation gets lively! I may have more to say!

**Now Submit!

If you have any questions or comments you are welcome to post them and I will do my best to answer them. Yea, start building those links now, you can try it out here!

Hello Sheryl,

I'm a little confused. Do I leave a link to my blog site? In other words... the only place my blog is linked on my actual website is via a link on the front page. If my blogs are not directly ON my site does it still work the same way? And I assume that if my blogs have only posts about safety and security that I shouldn't post comments on other sites unless they match my posts?

Sorry for the questions.. I just want to do this right :)

Hi Sharon,
You will most likely be able to rank your blog faster than your website. That is because a blog has more text information and you constantly up date it. The search engines love fresh text to read and index.

It would be best to post comments to blogs that are talking about the same topic as your blog. Then the search engines are following 1 topic and make the connection. Although I think if you are adding to a conversation at a blog then you can still put your link in the proper area. Many people will go through the list of blog comments and look to see what the other posters links go to. You will have to decide if you were clicking though would you like to be led to a sales site or a blog site.

BUT, if you are leaving a post at a blog that is directly talking about a specific product (bear spray) then you can link to your product (bear spray) page that matches on your sales page. Or leave the perma link to an article on your blog that is talking about bear spray. Some people do not want to post comments with links that go to a competing sales page. So, directing the link at your blog may be safer. You will just have to go on gut feeling from what you can asses by looking at the other comments.
I do know that you want to practice putting links to direct pages not just your home page no matter if the link goes to your sales page or your blog.

I also know that I post on forums where you can run a sig line. That link is on every post. I may be talking on a thread about something completely different than my site content. But, if someone reads my post and finds me interesting and has an interest in my product, they will click my sig line link.
I have yet to hear a ‘guru’ talk about forum marketing with a sig line but, that is how I have money for years.

In other words no matter what I would suggest you do, there will be someone else that dis agrees. Keep reading a variety of post about these topics and try things. No 2 people are the same and you need to do what is working for you. I can only post what works for me (or what doesn’t). lol!

Extra thought I had while at your blog -
You have a post about on your blog about Tasers with a picture, I would add a link so when they click the picture they go straight to your sales page that has the taser (rather than no link, it just opens the pic in a new window). This will help connect the text information (on your blog) to the product page that is directly related. If you do have a specific product you write about I would have the key word for the product linked to the product. With the Taser, Rather than just have 1 link at the bottom of the post you may want to put the link to the actual taser (sales page) using the same word on your post (just do not over do the links, that would look like a link farm to the SE’s).
I will be making a post with the code to do that very soon, if you do not know how to link pics yet.

I hope this helps get you started. If you have more questions, ask. I will tell you what I can. :)

I would argue that if you have a blog that directly integrates into your business then it should be hosted on the same doing. You can build backlinks to you blog which you can then use to pass os some weight to your main wesbite. Make sure you host it in a subfolder rather tha a subdomain e.g. www.website.com/blog not blog.website.com . The search engines are known to treat subdomains as different websites.
