Update Social Networking Profile with Your RSS Feed

Instead of running around posting that you have updated your blog (or forum) why not put an RSS Feed right on your profile at the Social Networks you belong to?

Any Visitors to your page will now be able to see a list of your latest post. I say any but some browsers do not allow Java, If your visitor does not allow java, they will miss out on seeing this.

You will be able to place the code we are going to make in a variety of places.

I personally have placed it at Bizpreneur, Lazzeo, Adland Pro, APsence & anywhere else that I have a social profile.

Building your RSS Reader Code – No coding experience needed!

Open a Word Pad Type Document so you will be able to save your special code when finished!

1. You will need your Blog or Forums RSS Feed Link.
To get this link find your RSS Feed on your site, Right Click, Open Properties. Now copy your RSS link from the pop up window.

2. Click on this link - RSS Converter

3. You will now see the Convert a Feed Page.

4. The 1st box is URL – Place the link to your RSS in this box. Do NOT select a feed from the box under your URL (this would be another sites feed)

5. Show Channel – Leave Blank!

6. Show Simplified – Mark YES!

7. Number of Items – This is how many of your post you will be displaying on your new reader. I have done between 5- 15.

8. Show description – This is where you will be able to just show post titles or a short description under each title. Think about how much room you will have where you be displaying your feed. If you choose Yes to display description, I have found that any more than 250 characters may cause problems on some sites.

9. Show Item Posting Date – I choose NO.

10. For best results leave the rest of the fields as they are. You may try to set colors…I have had a mass amount of problems when doing this. It is not worth the trouble to me.

11. Use List Elements – YES

12. Now Click Generate JavaScript – This will open in a new tab. Copy this code and keep it safe!!

Examples of where you can place this code
I have done it a variety of ways so, you can have a few ideas.

On my Bizpreneur Profile I have 3 Feed codes on the Middle Left hand side. They have been placed in the Advertising section when you go to your Profile Settings.

The 1st one you see is the RSS Feed to my personal Life As A WAHM Blog (I have it with just titles and no description)
The 2nd Feed is to The Dogs with Accessories Blog (with a 250 character description).

The 3rd Feed on this page goes to our new Internet Marketers Guild Forum (It is also set with a 250 character description). Yes every new post on our forum will be updated here.

My Lazzeo Profile is set basically the same way as Bizpreneur except I have a Life as a WAHM Titles only in the Top Header (it would look like crap if I had a description in the Header, trust me). You can place your feed code in any of the sections Labeled Advertising in your Edit Profile Settings.

Adland Pro Blog area

This one is a pain! It will not show the actual Feed Links on any of the 3 post. You would have to click – Check For Updates. Then it opens a list in a new page. After messing with it a good while I just said Screw it! LOL!

When you go to make a new post in your AdlandPro blog you will Title the post the name of your feed. Then at the bottom of the editor – click the HTML tab and insert your RSS code that you have made and saved. Now click to POST!

I made a separate post for each of my feeds.
You can also post this RSS Feed on your Web Page or About Me page at Adland.

Apsence Business Area Affiliates Page
On my Apsence Affiliates page I have placed my 3 Feeds and my Twitter. This link will take you to my Business Center then click on the Affiliates text to see the feeds.

When you log in click the Tab Business Center

Click Set Up My Business Center

Click the Affiliates Tab

Click Add Business Opportunity

Here you will Name your Post (Feed) in the Title box

Leave the Link box empty

You can click to Show on ABC Page

At the bottom of the editor you will see the HTML tab, click on this,
Now place your RSS Code in the text area box and Submit!

On my Apsence Affiliates page I have placed my 3 Feeds and my Twitter.
I have also found that you can title a blog post at Apsence and place your new code in there. Only problem I see is that no one reads them. LOL!

These are just a few examples of where you can place your new automatically updating feed.

I have had my blog feed on some sites for a while and have seen hits coming in. I was going to share this with you all earlier but, was just too lazy to go through the steps and write it out. I also wanted to test it for myself. ;)

Now you just need to take the time to make your code and place it.

Ps. This is a Top Secret Message and will self destruct after reading. LOL!

You totally never cease to amaze me. You always seem to come up with some weird thing that no one has done. and just because you thought it you just go and do it.

This is a simple solution using a little JavaScript and Bam there are more updates posted anyone would ever need!!

Fantastic job!

Thanks Brad,
I went and put the feeds on your profiles, on the sites you ask for. You are now link feeded up. If that is what you call it. ;)

I really was waiting to make this post about the RSS Feed Converter until I could do it with our new forum board included. I will be excited to see if that will mean our members post will get more random hits with it posted on many of my profiles around the web.

I went and added it on even more profiles today. I am sure it will take awhile for people to catch on that it is an RSS feed and they will be lead directly to the post source.

I also got the banners placed above each feed now to separate them so, my examples are a bit more clear.

I will say that I have been seeing hits to my blog coming from the feeds placed on my Social sites.

Now, what will I play with next?
Oh, I have to keep working on the Blog Co-Op idea that I want to get built on the forum. I will be busy with that for awhile. If you have any ideas to get the Co-Op filled with bloggers wanting to help each other, let me know. WoooHoo, their post will show up on my feeds also! :)

Have a super day! See ya' on the feeds!
